Deleting a goal removes that goal from a participant's profile. This action also removes the goal's waypoints and progress, and it cannot be undone. Use this guide when a goal was created by mistake, is no longer relevant, or should be removed instead of marked complete, cancelled, or unsuccessful.
Before You Delete a Goal
Only users with the appropriate Goals delete permission can delete goals. If you do not see Delete Goal, your role may not include permission to delete goals.
Deleting is permanent. If the goal still belongs in the participant's history, consider changing the goal status instead of deleting it.
Delete a Goal
Open the participant's profile.
Select Goals.
Open the goal you want to delete.
Open the goal actions menu.
Select Delete Goal.
Review the confirmation message: Are you sure you want to delete this goal? Progress will be removed and this action cannot be undone.
Select Delete to permanently remove the goal.
After the goal is deleted, Equip returns you to the participant's Goals list.
What Gets Removed
The goal is removed from the participant's profile.
The goal's waypoints are removed.
Progress updates connected to the goal are removed.
The deleted goal can no longer be opened, updated, copied, or reported on as an active goal record.
When to Delete vs Change Status
Delete the goal if it was created by mistake, duplicated, assigned to the wrong participant, or should not remain in the participant's record.
Change the goal status if the goal should stay in the participant's history as Completed, Cancelled, or Unsuccessful.
Best Practices
Review the goal, waypoints, and progress updates before deleting.
Confirm that the goal should be removed from the participant's record instead of closed with a status change.
If your team needs a record of the goal, capture the necessary information before deleting it.
Use role permissions to limit goal deletion to team members who should be able to remove participant goal records.
