What are Groups?

The Group feature allows for the classification of multiple users into a single group for the sake of assigning or inviting multiple users to an event, task, routine, etcetera with one simple click. Program Administrators may create Groups tailored to friends, families, peers with shared interests, or classmates. Groups also allow for secure and manageable real-time chatting within the Equip app. Chats are viewable by members, but can be edited or deleted by administrators at any time.

How Do Groups Work?

Groups on Equip are designed to facilitate collaboration and conversation (if enabled) among students, mentors, and administrators. Each group can be created around specific themes, such as academic subjects, extracurricular activities, or support networks. Within these groups, members can share resources, participate in discussions, and communicate collaboratively. Group administrators control group settings, allowing them to edit or delete any chat at any time. This structured yet flexible environment helps build a sense of community and promotes collective learning and support.

Benefits of Groups

Groups allow for members of various classifications to interact and can promote:

  • Community Building: Fosters a sense of community and belonging among group members

  • Improved Engagement: Encourages active participation and interaction within the group

  • Support Networks: Creates dedicated spaces for peer and mentor support

  • Resource Sharing: Allows members to share educational materials and resources easily

  • Enhanced Collaboration: Facilitates teamwork and collaborative projects among students

Personalization and Daily Use

Groups are created and controlled by Administrators or Mentors who have been assigned ownership of Groups. Get started creating groups:
